Beauty is painfully impermanent, intellect, slightly less so. This is essentially how I justify my cautiously optimistic feelings of self-worth in a world where I’m constantly bombarded by imagery that tells me that my less-than-ideal exterior is grounds for low self-esteem. On the drive back to college today, I listened to reruns of this week's timely poultry-themed This American Life on NPR. As enriching as it was, I never want to hear anyone get philosophical about chickens again. I heard parts of it yesterday, so it was my second time listening while in the car, and I was ready to strangle something (a chicken?). Mggghhhh, I probably sound like a close-minded old fart. Also, apologies for that terrible pun. You are entitled to dole out whatever punnishment you please.
